Surprise Banff Proposal and Engagement Photos | Joey & Lisa

This incredibly sweet surprise Banff proposal at Lake Minnewanka was such a dream. Joey contacted me at the beginning of September to photograph him proposing to his girlfriend on their trip out to Banff later that month. We exchanged photos of ourselves and made a plan to “meet up” along the shoreline at Lake Minnewanka one evening. I knew this Banff trip was incredibly special for them after a very challenging year so I wanted to make sure everything was perfect. Banff’s fall colours were at their peak and we were treated to a nice warm evening (which always makes my little Banff proposal photographer heart excited!).

Lake Minnewanka is always one of my favourite Banff proposal locations (for a list of my fave spots and a complete how to plan your Banff proposal guide, click here). Back to Lake Minnewanka, it is close to Banff townsite, has lots of different scenery, and even though it’s a popular spot, it’s easy to meander and find some privacy because it’s so large. And it’s soooo pretty (see below).

When Joey proposed, Lisa was so so happy. It was such an incredible moment to capture and be a witness to. We spent the next hour or so exploring around the lake, chatting, and taking more photos. We ended the evening splashing in the water and it couldn’t have been better. The love and care these two have for each other is so special and heartwarming. As a Banff proposal photographer, these moments never get old and I am so thankful to be able to freeze frame these moments in time for people. Congratulations you two, I can’t wait to see you take on the world together.

Some words from this sweet couple: “Could not recommend Dom enough. My fiancé and I are not picture people and are very awkward, yet our pictures are stunning. she knew every spot to go to and just captured the most stunning photos. I wish we lived locally so we could use her for all our life events. I guess we will just have to move to Banff now lol. Once again, you cant go wrong with hiring Dom!“
