As a Banff elopement photographer, there is nothing I love more than couples planning their day entirely to suit them and their vision. Get ready to be inspired by Phenix and Sam’s sunrise wedding in Banff National Park – they planned a day that was so intentional and truly got the best of both worlds. Picture this: a calm and quiet sunrise for just the two of them up the Icefields Parkway, followed by a heartwarming celebration with family and friends back in Banff later in the day.
We all woke up crazy early (we’re talking pre-sunrise early), headed west, and walked up to this insane viewpoint along the Icefields Parkway. We were treated with a beautiful morning and they soaked up an epic sunrise and got some stunning pics. We then made a quick stop at Bow Lake (a fave location of mine) before heading back to Banff.

They then gathered their friends and family at Tunnel Mountain for the main event – the ceremony. Tunnel Mountain, nestled in the heart of Banff, is available for rent and it’s one of my favourite spots for larger ceremonies in the area. Vows were exchanged, tears were shed (happy ones, of course), and the love was absolutely contagious. After the ceremony, we made a quick stop at Lake Minnewanka before heading back to Banff where we all had some downtime before the reception.
The day ended with their beautiful reception at the Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre. They had the most mouthwatering homemade treats and desserts that made me a macaron lover. The rustic charm of the place was the perfect fit for them.
Phenix and Sam’s Banff adventure wasn’t just any wedding – it was like a guidebook on how to have your cake and eat it too. They proved that you can kick off your day with peaceful intimate moments and then dive headfirst into an awesome celebration with all your favourite people. It’s so special when couples plan their day to include all of the elements that are important to them – for Phenix and Sam it was mixing serene moments with unforgettable celebrations, all against the stunning backdrop of Banff National Park.
